About the Nigeria Police

The Nigeria Police Force, NPF is a national unified force with a central structure headed by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) who takes orders from and reports to the presidency. NPF is the number one law enforcement and security agency in Nigeria working under the Ministry of Police Affairs. The law governing and stating the statutory functions of the Nigeria Police is the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Police Act 2020. The Nigeria Police Force has 7 administrative organs, 36 commands across the 36 states of the federation and 12 zones. The 36 commands are headed by commissioners of Police (CPs) and the many divisions and posts in local governments headed by Divisional Police Officers (DPOs). The administrative units of the Nigeria Police Force are as follows:

Nigeria Police Recruitment Process

Applicants are advised to login to the online application portal of the Nigerian Police, portal.nigeriapolicecareers.net and fill the application form. The following information should be kept handy before accessing the online form as they are compulsory to fill: your personal information in form of a CV, and select your preferred state of examination for the police recruitment aptitude test. After filling and submitting your form, you should receive a letter in your email. You are to print out the letter and save the I.D. remember to present it at the recruitment center if you are shortlisted.

Requirements for Recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force

To qualify for Nigeria Police recruitment exercise applicant must fulfill the following conditions:

1. Be Nigerian citizen by birth
2. Own a valid National Identity Number (NIM)
3. Be 18 – 25 years old
4. Obtained at least 5 credits at O’Level including English and Mathematics
5. Be at least 1.67m tall for male and 1.63m for female
6. Be of expanded chest measure of 86cm (34 inches)
7. Be free of any deformation in body
8. Have a next of kin
