Transferring Airtime On MTN For The First Time.

To transfer airtime simply means to give out airtime to someone else from your own. You are not buying or recharging airtime for another person. You are only transferring airtime from your MTN main account balance.

To transfer airtime on MTN, you need to use the MTN transfer code. The MTN transfer code is a code used by MTN prepaid users basically to transfer or send airtime to another MTN user. Did you also know that you can use that code to request airtime from others as well?

It is very easy to transfer airtime to another number as long as you follow the guidelines I would be giving in this article.

What Do I Need To Transfer Airtime On MTN For The First Time?

If you want to transfer airtime on MTN for the first time, you only need:

How To Start Transferring Airtime On MTN.

You can start transferring airtime on MTN after you activate the transfer code for your mobile phone. You also need to create a transfer or confirmation PIN. The MTN default PIN for transferring Airtime is “0000”. To change your PIN or activate the transfer code, simply dial *600* default PIN* new PIN#. Please make sure you create a PIN you can easily remember.

How To Transfer Airtime On MTN For The First Time

To transfer airtime on MTN for the first time, you need to use the MTN transfer code as I have stated earlier. You can easily transfer airtime by just dialing *777*Recipient’s Number*Amount*PIN# on your phone and sending or pressing OK.

For example, if you want to send airtime of N1500 to your friend’s number whose number is “08012345678”, dial *777*08012345678*1500*1234# and then send. When the transfer has been completed, you will receive a message informing you that the transfer was successful.

Please make sure you have enough amount in your MTN account balance. Do not let the amount you are sending be more than your balance.

How You Can Transfer Airtime Through SMS

Did you know that you can also transfer airtime on MTN through your SMS? It is so also as easy as dialing the code stated above.

To transfer airtime through SMS for the first time, simply send an SMS with Transfer, Recipient’s Number, Amount and PIN to 777. For example, you can send an SMS with ‘Transfer 08031234567 1500 1234‘ to 777.

Transfer Airtime With MyMTN App for the first time

You can also transfer airtime to another mobile number using MyMTN App. Note that using this method requires data or an internet connection. To use the MyMTN application:

  • Go to your Google Play Store or Apple Store on your smartphone.
  • Install the MTN official app which is MyMTN.
  • Open the app and log in or create an account with your MTN phone number.
  • Click/go to the transfer of airtime or data via the MyMTN app.
  • Input the Sender’s phone number which is your phone number.
  • You will receive a one-time password from MTN, input it and proceed.
  • Click on Recharge.
  • Next, tap on MTN Share and proceed on.
  • After that, input the amount you want to send.
  • Put in the PIN that you created.
  • Enter the receiver’s MTN Number and wait for confirmation.
